Math
Math begins with our daily calendar work followed by independent work in our Math Journals. The topic covered in the math journal is always a review of what was taught the previous day(s).
Each day you will notice a newspaper like packet coming home. This is our daily EnVision Math lesson. We begin our lesson by watching a short movie followed by a whole group lesson on the carpet. We complete the front page of the packet together then move on to the guided practice inside. For the first half of year we complete the back together. In the future, this task will move from guided to independent. Following the packet, students practice already taught skills in Math Centers. Each day students will complete one center. During center time I will be meeting with students for a guided math lesson.
A favorite of math time is always Hot Pencils. Students will have one minute to complete 12 addition or subtraction problems. Students begin on adding 1 to a number and continue on through 10. Once they finish all the addition they move onto subtraction. Please practice facts daily!
